Ok to start off my dream school is Columbia, i am from Kuwait, a very small and very Rich country.
just some history:
i was in egypt for a year, but found a better opportunity in the united states. In the states i was part of Old Dominion University in norfolk Virginia. throughout this, i was an electrical engineer, but i was barely passing classes. i was stubborn because my cultural perception that i grew with was that the engineering degree is the only one worth studying for a man, and provides the largest income for a future family. but it cam time for a choice since i wasn't going to graduate. leave and go to one of the cheaper countries where all you have to do is take the exam right after your personal teacher explains to you how to do it, or stay here and change my major.
i was persistent on working for my grade so i got a fresh start. moved, changed majors to international business as a transfer student.
Since then i have received certificates of academic merit from my embassy, and a scholarship from my school, some experience in starting and running my own real life business for a class, and marketed a full marketing campaign to a a restaurant in my area for a class, and an internship for marketing, and a graduation GPA of 3.3. I am also working on co authoring a paper with my adviser, which should count as extra curricular, with being a RA for the head of Research in my university.
the only reason i spelled it out was to see if it would gain favor as facing adversity, and going against the grain, and and coming back stronger after failing to get my eng degree.
this summer I'm going to work my ass off on getting a 700 on the GMAT before i get a job, and after i get one ill work hard for 3 years then apply for early decision.
All the financial aspects are covered, i found an amazing scholarship but its on condition that i get in. It shall pay me a VERY large stipend, plus tuition, and all other expenses, such as insurance and flights.
Do you think i have a chance at not just columbia, but any of the other big schools?
Thank you for your time!
I really look forward to hearing from you.
