But I heard from a few applicants that MIS does not require scores as high as 720 especially for people who have a technical background, so I thought i better confirm from the experts.

Well, you don't "Need" a score of 720. You could also apply to top school with a 700, or even 690. But it will put you above the average, which is always good, esp. if you come from a competitive applicant pool.

The rule of thumb - be 20 points higher than the average of the last incoming class and you are off to a great start,
