Good to hear form you!
So first the Good News: A mediocre GPA is not necessarily an app-killer. Especially not when you run your own firm!

The BIG question for me (and what I need to be able to REALLY evaluate you) is what is your company like? How big is it? What is your turnover? How many employees do you lead? What are you most proud of? What are your best achievements? What, CONCRETELY are your future goals for your firm??

Tell me about ALL this and I will for sure be able to help!

Hey Jon,

My company isn't big. I lead about 6 employees directly and some more indirectly. Although we had an Angel investment this year, the company isn't successful financially yet. We are on the black, but barely.
This is the reason I'd like to pursue an MBA. I believe in our products, people believe in our products and we constantly impress with our ideas. However, for some reason we haven't taken off yet, and I blame bad administration and marketing skills. If the company were already successful, I don't think an mba would be in my path for a while.

My goal with the firm is to expand nationwide. Be profitable and specially able to market our education product, which I believe can really have a social impact.

Best regards, Theo

Theo,
allright so that is relatively small, but even if you aren't yet profitable, getting Angel investment is good, because it shows that school that the business world beleives is you, and is a significant achievement in of itself.

From what I see here (although really I need a lot more detail), is that you can apply to a good range of schools in Top 20. I think you DO have a shot at Top10, but you will have to be convincing about your and your firm's future as well as the market potential. But with a 740, and good experience it's certainly possible. You will want to have 1-2 schools in the 10-20 range to have a balanced strategy and ensure an admit (and anyhow, let's be honest they are still GREAT programs).

Hope this helps!

Best,
JF
