Hi all,
I am a 24 year old male engineer from India.
Academic Background:
Class X : 88.33 %
Class XII : 85.4 %
B. Tech. : 8.06/10 on an absolute scale in Civil Engineering form IIT (BHU), Varanasi (a top 10 engineering college in India).
Work Experience:
9 months in Ambuja Cements as a Site Engineer overseeing construction activities.
11 Months till date in a Design firm as Design Engineer where I design bridges for State Government as well as Indian Railways.
In my present work I also design bridges for rural areas of India.
will have 2+ years of work ex during round 1 of the admission process around October 2015.
Extra Curricular:
negligible
But have worked for an NGO for 1+ year which works in the very under developed areas of my state.
GMAT:
OA: 720, verbal: 37, Quant: 50, IR:7/8, AWA: 5/6
Had put in 1 month of casual prep for this result.
I would like to know your opinion about the following queries of mine:
1. Is my GMAT score good enough for even the top 10 colleges of USA or do i need to retake the GMAT with some more preperation?
2. Is hardcore technical experience a good thing or will it hamper my chances of a premier B School?
Also is 2+ years of work ex good enough because i have heard that 3+ years of work is considered good for most top B school in USA?
3. Is TOEFL absolutely necessary for applicants from INDIA or is it not needed if my college gives a written acknowledgement about language of instruction being in English.
4. I would start preparing for the application essays and all from now only but I am not sure how to approach the whole thing.
5. Also I am interested in Consulting/ Finance in which I have no prior work ex and I have read that Ad Coms expects the candidate to be specific about their future endeavours. Kindly help me out with this confusion as to how am i supposed to be specific. (right now the only real reason that I can think of is being good with numbers and love for reading finance related news like Euro Zone Crisis, US housing bubble and all)
6. Also what colleges in USA and EUROPE should I target? (Had an interview call from ESADE, Spain in 2014 where I had not applied but since I was not sure about pursing an MBA at that point in time I did not give it a try. Does this mean that the college is interested in my profile or is it just to get more people to appear for Interview?)
Thanks in Advance
