My Profile
Nationality: Dutch
Age: 28 years (at matriculation)
Gender: Male
GMAT score: Not yet taken the GMAT, took the GRE several years ago (V164, Q168) which implies a GMAT of 700+
Work experience: 2.5 years (at time of matriculation)
Current Industry: Consulting (European MBB Office)
Previous Industries: Consulting (Intern, MBB), PE (mid market analyst(started of as intern) in between studies for 6 months)
Currently an analyst in a continental European MBB office, top performer. Worked on projects around EU and in Middle East, Africa and North America
Undergrad school/ Major: Bsc in Economics + Bsc in Econometrics from top-ranked Dutch University, 4.0 GPA (Completed both degrees simultaneously in 3 years)
Grad school: Msc in Economics from top-ranked Dutch university, (4.0 GPA), Mphil (Research Master) in Economics from Oxford University, Distinction
Extracurricular activities:
• Founded an organization that teaches students about socially responsible enterprise and organises projects implementing such projects in practice. The programme realized an ambulance service for the poor in Pakistan and a sanitation service in rural India.
• Volunteered as a project consultant for a microfinance organization in Mumbai, India
• Board member of my Dutch university's economics society (+/- 300 members), organized study trips to India and Thailand as well as a well attended lecture series with prominent speakers.
• Active as research associate at a research institute at the University of Oxford during studies (Institute for New Economic Thinking), working on complexity economics.
Career goals: Continue in MBB for several years, afterwards entrepreneurship or PE.
Target schools: HBS, GSB, Columbia, Wharton, Insead. Probably fully sponsored.
Main worries: age, only 2 years of experience at 28 (most Dutch students start working around 24). This is due to having completed two master's degrees and having taken a year to intern (for 6 months) and volunteer in between graduate degrees.
Already completed an advanced degree (Mphil), perhaps adcoms are skeptical about why I would also require an MBA
Thanks in advance!
