Work Experience:

I have about 3 years experience in IT and finance sectors and have worked on the architecture of a number of systems. I have experience in leading a team of developers to prepare systems to handle large data and fulfill the requests of the different departments and clients.

EC:

I have done freelance code and project work for my own experience and am proficient in analysis of data which I can show with my projects

International experience:

I have led multiple charity drives online and coordinated events online with large communities with members around the world, communicating with them and moderating their discussions to raise funds and awareness for a number of charities. I have done freelance development work for a number of people online as well.

I want to apply to universities in Singapore and the UK preferably in the finance specialization. I am looking at SMU Singapore and Warwick UK.

Your stats seem good enough for these schools, but some unknowns still remain in your profile -- please see below for what they are:

- Where you went for undergrad
- You career goals post MBA
- Your choice for recommenders and the strength of letters they provide
- Quality of your essays

Without at least knowing the first two above, it's tough to do a holistic evaluation on your chances for these schools. Hi there. Firstly thank you for taking the time to evaluate my profile.

As for your questions:
1. I've been to a tier 2 university in India for my undergrad pursuing a bachelor's in computer science.

2. My career goals post MBA are to continue in finance possibly moving into financial analysis or financial operations management.

3. As for recommenders I am looking at senior management personnel from my current workplace under whom I have done my work.

4. I am confident about being able to write good quality essays.

Hi Tyrone43,

With the additional details you provided, I would say that you have a chance at getting into these programs, given that your GMAT score meets the average and you can provide good essays and LOR's. However, how competitive you are will depend on how well you can make your case as to how you are differentiated from all the other Indian nationals applying, especially those from a similar field and a higher ranked university. Furthermore, with 3 years (4 by the time you attend) of experience you are still below the average for both SMU (5-7 years) and Warwick (avg age 31). You really need to prove to the adcom that you have enough experience to be a valuable contributor to the program, and why now is the time for you to get your MBA, and why you need it. The last point is very important since you're looking to continue in finance. The school needs to know that you need the MBA, otherwise if you can achieve your long term goal without it, they would prefer to give the seat to someone else that really needs it to succeed.
