Hi animagreborn,
The COVID crisis is certainly injecting uncertainty into this year's b-school admissions process. Our current hypothesis is that application numbers, especially for top schools, may actually increase this year, as more young professionals seek a 2-year haven from a very shaky job market. If that turns out to be true, then the upcoming round 1 and round 2 cycles may actually be more competitive than usual.
Generally speaking, we recommend that our clients aim to score at or above the average GMAT for their target schools. You can almost always find the average GMAT for a b-school's incoming class on their admissions website. For the most part, the top 25 US business schools all have average GMAT scores above 700, so an applicant with a 660 GMAT would probably need to demonstrate other outstanding qualities, ideally in terms of career (such as through their work leadership, a track record of speedy promotions, entrepreneurial results, etc.).
Best,
Doris
