Hello Ask Admission Teams Here,
I hope you are well and keeping healthy.
I was advised to share my profile here to get some feedback on what could be a strength or weakness of my profile and how best to prepare for most of the schools I am applying to (for an MBA) with the advised international students' application window closing by October 12 for some of them.
My Profile
- Nationality: Nigeria but resident is Kenya because of work (been in Kenya for 4.5 years i.e. since undergrad studies)
- Gender: Male
- Undergrad was in Scotland.
- Undergrad studies was in Business Management and finished with a 2:1
- Been working in fintech. My first job out of college was being a chief of staff to the CEO of a large fintech on the African continent and now a fintech manager at a multinational bank
- Worked in 3 countries on the African continent since undergrad
- GMAT / GRE score (not yet done but practice score below):
I recently took the GRE (from Kaplan) and GMAT (from Manhattan) full practice test and below were my scores:
GRE: Q142 + V146
GMAT: Q27 + V26 (total was 450)
- Amount of work experience (not including 1 year of internship during undergrad):
4 years and 7 months. My first role was chief of staff to the CEO at a fintech, then product manager promotion at the same fintech, then moved to Uganda as a commercial manager for a food tech company (Spanish company but with a footprint in Uganda), then back to Kenya as a fintech strategic partnership manager at a multinational bank, and now the head of partnership at a compliance tech startup in Nigeria.
- Industry experience: Fintech, Foot tech marketplace, Banking, Compliance tech
- Extracurricular activities:
I run a social enterprise that gives none collateral loans to women in my country. I was the alumni association president for 2 years post-graduation. I was an academic rep of our student union during my undergrad. I was also a class rep for the 3.5 years of my undergrad
- Post-MBA plans is to work at least 3 years in consulting and then build a digital bank on the African continent
- Target Schools: Haas, Judge, Said, IESE, INSEAD, Rotman, Sauder UBC, GSB, Kellogg, HBS, LBS
Please I would appreciate any support on how best to "sell" my profile as an MBA applicant, what GRE scores I need to aim for (I do have a sense for each school, but what will work considering my profile?), and a general review of my profile from admission support teams here.

I'm a engineering school student on financial engineering (maths, finance, computer science). And my school is top 10 in France. I will graduate in 2024 and looking to work in finance more than financial engineering (M&A instead of quantitative researcher etc). So I'm interested in few MiF in Europe : ESCP, HEC, ESSEC, EDHEC, STGallen and LSB. I am interested in knowing my possibilities at universities with my current profile, so any assistance is greatly welcomed. Also, if you have other suggestions for MiF in Europe it will be nice to tell me!
Academic:
- gmat : target 700 - 720 (today I'm around Q50 and V35)
- GPA : ~3 (12.8/20) the two last year, can be explained by personal problems, but close to 4 the 2 previous one (15.1/20)
- TOEIC 980/990 but I can take TOEFL if needed
experience:
- Natixis CIB, mostly software but close to finance (3 months)
- VP of a 6 figures student run company (a little consulting firm in our uni) (volutary job during 15 months)
- Maths Institute, research on IA (6 weeks)
Extra:
- Lot of sports and achievements in it (france championship in volley, foot during 10 years as a captain, gym, ...)
I'm going to study at KTH in Sweden for 4 months (one of the most renowned uni there) and after that I will have to complete a 6 months internship before integrating my MiF in order to be graduated.
I would like to know what are my chances to integrate the best MiF and on what I have to work in order to accomplish that. Thank you very much!

I have deep concerns about your GRE/GMAT. The range of and mean scores for all those programs are publicly listed. You will see that your practice scores are significantly below consideration for nearly, if not, all of them.
R1 is very much out of the question. You won't have the time to pull this off. R2 is a possibility but only if you are somehow able to raise your score somewhat quickly and then immediately turn your attention to putting together your applications. That's a heavy lift but it can be done.
We might recommend considering applying next year when you will have more time to appropriately nail down a good score and round out your profile. Let us know if that's something you would consider and how we might be able to help.
