Current Role: 5 years- buy-side Associate at a active bottom-up long only global fund focused on covering consumer and telecom& media at a Canadian pension fund with >$250B AUM
Promoted from analyst to senior analyst to associate on the fund. Up for a portfolio manager promotion this March
A very flat structure at the fund where I own the sector focused coverage and am responsible for generating alpha vs the index through in depth research and decision making. The fund has a quality focus and decisions involve evaluating management strategy and industry
head of the internal consumer committee at the org. Where I'm valued for my insights.
Directly travel to meet with C-suite executives of various fortune 500 companies globally
Previous: Actuarial consultant with a big 4 - mumbai and UK based role.
Extracurriculars:
Founder of the financial literacy committee at my company and obtained funding of $25K to host events etc
Volunteer at a non profit financial literacy org.
Part of various initiatives at undergrad inc Enactus, student societies, and a leadership position at an NPO focused on promoting awareness
Hobbies are sailing, lawn tennis and golfing
Post MBA Goal:
I want to ideally switch from equity research to strategy or corporate development for a consumer company - taking advantage of my industry knowledge but drive direct imact
Short term: work in a Consulting role for top consulting firms and get well versed in the nuances strategy/ operations
Long term goal will be work in the C-suite of a consumer company.
I am wondering if the short term goal makes sense, as ideally I would like to be in the strategy C-suite of a company but I feel the direct switch might be harder and the management consulting might enrich my skill set.
Looking for advice on candidacy and goals. Thank you

LBS and INSEAD are viable schools for you.
Don't go consulting for your short-term goal. It's overplayed. Come up with something that represents an alternative path to your long-term goal. Speaking of which, you also need to define what C-suite role you want, what type of company (size, industry, geography, etc.) and the impact you plan to have in that capacity (solve some sort of issue.)
