Target program: Wharton Executive MBA (San Francisco)
Academics:
GMAT: 700 (Q-48, V-38)
Grad GPA: 3.9 (Clemson University)
Undergrad GPA: 83% from university in India. 1st in University.
Grad/Undegrad Major: Computer Science
Professional:
9 years work experience to date
Currently working as Sr. QA Lead/QA Manager leading a team of 15 resources.
Working as a consultant for networking giant in San Francisco bay area for past 4 years. Have worked full time for Verizon and Dell in my past 2 jobs as Test Lead.
Extra-curricular
Secretary (Board of Directors) for a non profit from 2005-2008. Currently volunteer through my company, mostly non-leadership roles.
Professional publications in magazines and online media since 2005 till date.
Few certifications associated to my field of work
Silver medalist, Taekwondo at national level competition (2004)

Hello,
For executive programs, the bulk of the focus is on your work experience. They want to see that you have consistently moved up within your field, have had significant management and leadership responsibility and are on the road to being a top leader at your company or within your industry. If you feel that you can show that, then Wharton is a possibility. Your academic background is quite strong. They weight extra curriculars and community activities a bit less at the EMBA level, but it's still good that you have some solid ones to lean on. Your recommendations and whether or not you're being sponsored by your employer will also be important.
You've led a mostly technical career to date, and I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing - but I do think you'll want to position yourself as much as possible as a business leader/manager versus a technical one. Just something to be aware of.
Wharton is the most competitive of the EMBAs in terms of acceptance rates, but I think your academic record and (from what I can tell) management experience could be competitive. In the reach category, I'd say you could look at Chicago and Columbia as well. I would also really encourage you to look at NYU Stern and Duke Fuqua as target programs. If you're eager to stay on the west coast, UCLA has a strong program and even USC is not bad.
