Good Morning,
I was wondering if you could do an eval for me. I am a Nepalese American citizen(went to elementary through highschool in the states)
1) I work for a Charter School network in Chicago as the Recruitment Coordinator for Human Capital for four different schools. I have been in this position for a year and a half. Prior to this I taught Chemistry at a high school in Houston, Texas for three years, as a member of Teach for America
2) 650: 44Q 35V
3) College info: Attended The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina for Undergrad. Was Biology Major and graduated in 7 semesters. GPA: 3.0 and increased gradually each year of college. started with 2.4/2.8/2.8/2/9/3.3/3.9/3.4(each semester breakdown)
4) On Company board during college. Teach for America. Volunteer as a mentor for a student in a low income area in Chicago through education non-profit
5) Teaching Certificate in Texas.
6)I want to apply round 2 of this year to Kellogg, Haas, Ross, UT(McCombs) and Tuck.
7) When you plan to apply? Please specify round and application cycle, for example R1 2013-14 or R3 2012-13.
8) I want to work in non-profit consulting/ human capital consulting.
Do you think it would be advisable to retake the GMAT. I took it this past monday and scored the 650. I was planning on taking it again on december 4th but am not sure if i should. I plan on starting my applications ASAP. Thank you for your time.

Hi Anuj,
Thanks for sharing your profile info. You have a less-traditional background, but that can actually help you stand out and be remembered by the admissions committee, and can be a plus as they envision creating a diverse class (both in terms of your nationality and also your experiences in the field of education), as long as you can show that you can handle the academic rigor of the MBA, and that you do need the MBA degree -- it should fit into your career goals.
A 650 is respectable, but certainly a higher score would help you particularly at Kellogg, Haas, and Tuck. What reason/s do you have for NOT re-taking? Schools will take the highest score... if you feel you could improve it, might be worth it. Happy to help with additional advice when I hear more on what you are thinking... good luck!

Hey Jen,
Thanks for the input. I have no reasons to not retake and just signed up to retake on Dec 3rd. I was consistently recieving 710, 690, 680 on the veritas prep practice exams i took, and just happened to slip up on the actual test. I wanted to apply round 2 of this year because i heard round three was pretty difficult. I will let you know how i do, and might come back for an eval in a month or so. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!!
Do you think it would be beneficial to start applications but not submit until after i have received the score that i want. Also what do you think is the ideal score for me to have a good chance at getting into those schools.

Start brainstorming ideas and anecdotes etc now, the more brainstorming you are able to do, the better the final products generally are. Keep us posted!
