Hello everyone - thanks in advance for any insight!
Age - 31 (2005 college grad)
Gender - Male
Nationality – Indian
Education – Engineering graduate from an Indian university
GPA - 3.1 or 3.2
GMAT2 - 670 (Q47, V35)
GMAT1 610(Q49, V26)
Work experience –
Working in corporate office of government owned utility Company.
Part of team drafting renewable energy policies and Electricity tariff related matter.
Worked with regulator in energy sector.
Worked for the company in rural India serving the rural consumer.
well aware with socioeconomic condition of rural India. Handled a team of 8 people (only for six months)
Recs/stories -
Created a model for solar pump based utility service in for Agricultural supply. (Model was appreciated but not approved by management).
After completion of MBA, want to bring many such models into practice.
Extracurricular-
- worked for 2 different volunteer organizations
- worked (6 years) extensively during collage days, managing daily gathering/camps of the organization, managed similar activates when migrated to a different city.
-Motivated other people to join the organization.
Played a flute in band of the organization.
Part of many actives requiring organizational skill and interpersonal skill
While working with other organization, I carried out voter enrollment drive at workplace and at residential colony.
Conducted traffic awareness initiative
Plans for after school-
start a Social enterprise
Want to bring the solar pump franchisee model, discussed earlier, into reality with the help of similarly inspired fellow MBA student.
Want to bring many such models into reality.
Help other people to be social entrepreneur, if they have good ideas
Want to join the tuck because -
it has strong emphasis on community.
Want to nurture leadership to start a social enterprise
( Met with tuck alumni who started community based travel service. )
Tuck is only one of the few institutes who has focus on India

Thanks for posting. I think your specific story and ambition for the solar pump model/franchise concept is what stood out most to me, so if you can explain it further and support your goals and reasons for getting the MBA (as part of that) well in your essays, that could be what helps you get noticed or stand out from the large crowd of Indian engineering applicants. Really work on those essays and get feedback on them!! However you do have downsides, the GMAT being one of them, well below the average at Tuck. Something to consider, not sure if there is any last chance of re-taking. Certainly students are accepted at your score level, but it makes it tougher, whereas scores closer to their average make it a bit less challenging to get in. Your volunteering experiences are a plus, just be sure you really focus on your leadership roles and experiences in your professional work as well, plus in the extracurricular activities. You are getting to be on the older side for applying, so the 'why MBA' and 'why now' becomes even more important for you. Finally, it's good that you've started putting some thought into 'why Tuck' as really knowing the school and showing how much you are interested in going there is another small plus that can help. Best of luck and keep us posted!
