This is my first post on the forum. I have gathered all the necessary elements (except essays) for my MBA application this year ('15). But I need a few
pointers about colleges I should target and my chances.
My Profile:
Age: 25
Nationality: Indian
GMAT: 780 (Q50, V48)
IELTS: S8, W8, L9, R9
10th (ICSE): 77%
12th (ISC): 88%
Undergrad: Mechanical Engineering (4 year course)
CGPA: 7.3 from a top state college (may not be well known internationally)
- Grades during my 1st, 2nd and 3rd year were average. Pulled up my socks in the final year and topped the class.
Trend indicates is a huge leap from the initial average grades but the overall CGPA is just above average.
Landed the best job out of all my peers at Toyota through college placements.
Work Exp 1: 3.5 years at Toyota, India
Role: Design Engineer (Exterior parts)
Highlights:
- Youngest member of Toyota's 7 member model life management task force (all other members had >10 years of experience and were depty. managers and above)
- Successfully competed 3 vehicle development projects. (Highest project exposure and completion among peers)
- Promoted 2 times over 3.5 years.
- Proactively identified a part concern that was missed during quality inspection. Hence, preventing huge warranty claims.
- Youngest member to be given complete responsibility of the exterior part development team.
Work Exp 2: Currently setting up an automotive rubber manufacturing plant/ investor prospecting. - 1 month
Extra curricular/ Leadership Indicators:
- School prefect.
- Chief editor for the college editorial committee (I revived the editorial committee after its inactivity for 6 years)
- Chassis/ Body Head for the college Formula SAE project.
- Avid interest in learning languages: German (A1), French (A1), Japanese (A1)
- Topical Steroid Awareness Campaign, India (Blog): I spearheaded an awareness campaign for the misuse of topical steroids and its harmful effects over the long run.
Currently working on my essays for R1 applications.
Planning to apply to HBS, GBS, Wharton, Said, ROSS, HASS. Advice please.
