Hi,
Debating between full time applications in R1 2016 (mix of top 15 schools), or applying to a few part time programs this May, for start in fall 2016 (mainly Booth, Georgetown, NYU). Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Profile is as follows:
- small liberal arts undergrad, 3.4GPA, political science degree, varsity baseball team
- 1.5yrs on a political campaign, showed growth through work load and promotions
- 2 yrs at a small direct service non-profit, again showed growth through promotions, left as the Director of Development, can speak to increased budget as a result of my time there
- 3 yrs at a non-profit impact investment fund, two promotions and have shown internal and external leadership. Externally, was elected the youngest ever Board Member for our national industry association. Also serve as a Board Member for two additional organizations.
- GMAT is a weak spot, have taken it once (low 600's), hoping for high 600's when I take it again.
Post MBA Goals:
- Thinking part-time if I want to stay within my industry niche and build into leadership of an organization
- Or thinking full time if I decide to pivot to a more private-equity like focus - though hoping for continued mission-related work.
Either way, I feel given my lack of undergraduate quant experience, MBA would give me the needed financial credibility.
