Good luck with your GMAT studies and job search!

Hi Kate ,

Thank you for valuable insight into the sutuation :). This clarifies a lot. Yes , the 750 is a hypothetical right now. My actual score is 630(Q47 ,V29) in my first attempt. I'm confident that i CAN reach that score and I'm also aiming to get a job as a Business Analyst or as a Management Consultant.

Thanks ,
Ujjwal Dheer

Hi there!

Well a 750 is always going to be better than a 700 :) and that's a very significant difference because a 750 puts you above average at every program. So that's a really excellent score. So then basically you're asking if a year in consulting is better than a year as a business analyst and that's enough to outweigh the difference between the GMAT scores? That's honestly a really hard question to answer because a) b-schools don't use a set formula or weighting where GMAT is worth more than work experience and b) evaluating the quality of your work experience just based on title is pretty much impossible. Both are common pre-MBA positions and I don't think anyone could say that consulting is always better than a BA position or vice versa...it depends on things like what kind of consulting, how much responsibility you have, how well you perform, whether or not you have opportunities to be a leader or work in cross-functional teams, etc.

What is your actual score now? I assume the 750 is a hypothetical? And if so, how confident are you that you can reach that score?

Lots to think about!
Kate
