MIM/MS/MSC or MBA??

Question

Hello experts

I have been researching various websites to understand the path which is right for me. 
I completed BA Marketing and Advertising from Lancaster University in 2014 with a first class honors. I am currently working. Also I will be appearing for GMAT in March.

I want to continue my education in marketing and its related fields but should I go for an MBA or other masters options that are available as I have 2 years of work experience? Will it be a good option to go for marketing analytics instead of an MBA? What are the job prospects for Msc students?

Your advice would be great.

Hi there,
It sounds like you are at a crossroads and that this is a good point in your career to really do some research and assess what career path is most appealing to you, and then make your decision related to grad school based upon that if possible. You may see that an MBA, being more broad, could open a wider variety of doors and be utilized in different ways. That said if very set on marketing, a specialized marketing degree can help as well. But I'd say don't base it upon how much experience you have .... instead look ahead to the end game, then decide what degree makes sense, THEN if needed get a little more work experience.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
In addition to MBA, I wanted to keep Msc and MIM as an option as the job prospects after Msc and MIM are pretty good (after what I have read on univ. sites). The MIM programs are very famous in Europe but I found the MIM + Msc program offered by National University of Singapore (https://mim.nus.edu/why-msc-management-cems-mim) pretty good as it delves into the marketing aspect as well as other business aspects.
1) What is your opinion on this particular course? Is CEMS MIM a good option?
2) I am from India and want to know your opinion on job prospects for Indians in Asian countries compared to other countries?
3) Will a degree from Singapore help me get a job in other countries such as USA, European countries?

Hi there, 
When you say 'in addition to the MBA' I'm not following if you mean that you are considering both, or the MiM instead of the MBA etc... if deciding between the two options (which would make more sense), they are generally for different stages of your career... there are similarities but in my view the MBA is slightly more 'portable' or may open slightly more doors; may also (on average) be associated with higher salaries, but that at least in short term makes sense given the point grads are in their careers... but you can google 'MBA vs MiM' and get some good articles on Poets & Quants and elsewhere for perspective. Re: that specific program at NUS, I'm not super familiar with it, but NUS is certainly a reputable school. Again you'd ideally decide what your end goal career-wise is, and that will help you guide school choices. Re job prospects after that program, that is a question best proposed to the career office at NUS as they will have full info and advice about their grads and their experiences etc. It also of course depends upon the industry and type of role you are aiming for.
