Hi,
This may be a weird and trivial topic:
I retook the GMAT a few months ago and bumped from 720 first attempt (50Q, 38V, 8, 6 AWA) to 780 second attempt (50Q, 47V, 8, 5 AWA).
I am not considering retaking, but am curious if dropping a point on AWA will hold any weight whatsoever. I am a native English speaker, went to a near-top US university with a high GPA, and I can assume my essays will be very polished when I get around to applying in a couple years. I really don't know how I dropped since I used a very similar approach, but it happened.
I am planning on applying to mostly top 10 schools and a few in the top 5, but please just tell me not to concern myself with this
