What an interesting profile! Thank you for all the detail. Looks like you have some great academics and also a really nice history of professional accomplishments. These will serve you well in the b-school process.
So to answer your GMAT question, of course a higher GMAT score would be helpful here if you are truly targeting the Top 10. Have you considered INSEAD at all or are you set on a US MBA? Maybe take a look at INSEAD, Stern, Johnson too. You seem like the type of candidate where we'd have a lot to chat about -- I think you'll get a lot out of a free consultation.
