Profile Eval. Req - 700/M/Engineer/4.5yr in Research&Consulting/CFA L2
Hi,
I would like my profile to be evaluated and the list of schools that I could probably look at for a 2018 admit. I am not sure as to where my profile exactly stands and would like to know if I have a chance at the top 10/20 B-schools in the US.
GMAT (October 2017) - 700 (Q 50/V 34/AWA 5/ IR 6)
Background: Indian, Male, 25 years old
Education:
Passed CFA L2 in July 2017;
UG - BTech, Computer Science, 2013 pass out, Jaypee Noida, GPA - 7.1/10 (Above Average)
12th: Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj (68.4%)
10th: Bal Vikas School, Panipat (92%)
Work Experience
Senior Knowledge Associate at Bain Capability Center [Bain and Company] (3 years)
Business Analyst at Evalueserve (1.5 years)
Extra-curricular activities
1. Associated with an NGO for pro-bono project for past 1.5 years
2. Has a photography page on Instagram
3. Volunteer experience with Teach for India, WWF, CRY
4. Led clubs during annual college festivals
I am looking for MBA colleges with strong consulting placements or good Finance background to explore my CFA knowledge. I am fine with either US or Asian colleges.
I understand that I have missed the deadlines for R1. Hence, would need to rush my applications.
For initial shortlist, I was thinking B-Schools like Ross, Cornell, Rotman, ISB, Emory, Kenan Flagler, McCombs, NTU, NUS, HKUST... I need help in refining the list. I am open with suggestions to other colleges apart from these. Would like to know which all colleges can be fall in band of ambitious, reach and safe bands.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your info here. There are a lot of things I don't know about you (any details of what you've accomplished at work; how much leadership and impact you've had; what and how often you do for the NGO; how much other volunteering you have/how recent; more details on your goals; not to mention of course how other elements such as recommendations can still make a big impact); and it sounds like you are quite open to a huge variety of schools from what I can tell. Your quant score is strong, GMAT-wise, but overall score combined with being from an over-represented group in the applicant pool would make top 15 (ish) schools reaches for you in my view; for best chances look at schools in the say 20-40 or so range (US News) and outside the top few in Asia. Biggest reaches on your list are likely ISB and McCombs. Have a look at acceptance rates for those that publish them to get a feel too for how competitive each is, in addition to average GMAT.
