Academics: Engineer from a top 100 College in the Country with a score of 69
Work Experience:
6 Years in a retail product company in India. I've started and built the Human Resource operations and functions in the company. I've got 3-4 Promotions and now a part of the senior management in the company. The company is on the verge of going Global in a years time.
Others: I've taken a lot of Business initiatives and demonstrated during the college. However after I ve started working all my initiatives are confined to my workplace .
Why MBA
To learn, understand organization from a Global perspective ideally to run large corporate office of a global organization.

Your work experience sounds really strong -- impressive to have so many promotions and be part of building functions from the ground up. That is great! Will definitely differentiate your experience from other applicants with engineering backgrounds.
To answer your questions...1) I think a higher GMAT would help a lot. Make that your priority as I don't see many other weak areas in your profile. 2) I would go for it now! 6 years is a good stage, and you can capitalize on the global expansion timing hopefully too. 3) I think you've got a good list, with some potentially stretch schools like Booth, Sloan, Haas (though it depends on where you GMAT comes out). 4) GMAT! And it sounds like boosting your extracurricular / volunteer involvement too.
