For Executive MBA and Part-time MBA, you would generally need to have a full time job. The typical years of experience for someone in an Executive MBA program is 8-12 years, and for Part-time it is around 5 years. In rare cases, admissions committees do make exceptions to these ranges.
For an online MBA, just like with a Full-time MBA, you do not technically need to be currently employed in a full-time job, but some prior work experience is required, as are professional letters of recommendation. The work experience requirements for the online MBA is less stringent than other programs.
As a member of an Executive MBA or Part-time MBA program, you do have access to on-campus recruiting and networking opportunities, although not at the same level as students who are in a Full-time program.
