Hi vince1,
Thanks for posting your profile. While Waitlist is not the decision you were hoping for, the good news is that Ross likes you and would like the opportunity to have you join their class!
To answer your questions -
1. There are a lot of unknowns in the admissions process. Being waitlisted at Ross has no correlation with the decision you may get at other schools. That said, you're right to revisit your school selection. Given your profile, I think the schools on your list look within reach. But if you want to be more conservative for R2, keep in mind that Haas, Columbia, Stern and Yale do have lower average acceptance rates than the other schools on your list. If you're on the fence about any of these schools, why not swap them out for schools with higher acceptance rates, eg. INSEAD which also has a fantastic international brand.
2. The schools typically will aim for a diversity in both nationalities and ethnic background. As well, industry and function. So you will likely be included in a lot of "buckets".
3. Re: mentioning your visa, the Admissions Committee gets enough Australian applicants that they should be aware of this.
4. I don't think schools make admissions decisions based on goals alone. Your career goals are regarded alongside your full profile holistically. Ideally it should be achievable given your current profile.
5. Yes, I think submitting your 730 GMAT score will give Ross another data point to consider in your candidacy.
Best of luck with the waitlist at Ross, as well as your other applications! If you would like to discuss your profile in more detail, feel free to schedule a 1:1 consultation with us. Wishing you the best in your MBA journey!
Sincerely,
Debbie
