Any chance for HEC mim

Question

I took the GMAT today, the score was lower than expected. On my first attempt I got 610, this time it was 680.
I am from India, have very good extra curricular activities. 
University champion- Lawn Tennis,Badminton.
District chess champion.
Played division 3 county cricket for warwickshire.
Done considerable amount of social service.

Did my engineering in Petroleum(which is itself unique)
GPA was average- 6.8/10
Cleared IIT-JEE(the toughest engineering entrance exam in India)

Currently working with Accenture Services pvt ltd.(joined in jan-2013)
So work ex would be 1.5 years at the time of joining.

What are my chances for HEC(MIM) with this profile.

Last year got through Edhec with a score of 610 and even got a distinction scholarship but I decided not to go for it.

Please help.

Your (new) GMAT score sounds fine, but your work experience of approximately 1.5 years is not very much. HEC appears to have an outreach agenda for Asian students (at least I thought so a few years ago), but you will be competing with a number of Indian applicants.

Please forgive me, but by "mim" do you mean Master's in International Management? If so, then go for it!

Is this for the Grand Ecole program or a stand-alone, one-year program? The Grand Ecole program is the premier business degree in France (and very, very prestigious throughout Europe), so make sure that you do everything possible to present the best application possible.

Sure, you stand a chance. But your application will face steep competition, so pursue every opportunity to make your profile stand out. I am not too knowledgeable about ESSEC, but it's certainly worth a shot!

Sure, my pleasure!

Retaking is of course an option, but it's also a risky venture. Unless you have the time, desire, money, and confidence to improve your score, then a third attempt is probably not worth it.

The key question is do you believe your score would improve alot? Scoring something like 690 this time would possibly be counterproductive...
You should be OK with this one, but make sure that the rest of your appl. is impecable. Low GPA with not-so-great GMAT is not the ideal combo...
