Hi all,
I’m weighing the decision of Booth vs. LBS admits. Both are great options and I know I would enjoy and benefit from either program.
As background, I work in investment management (analyst) in Canada and am looking to continue in the field with the ultimate goal of portfolio manager at a major buy-side firm. The MBA is largely a stepping stone to a bigger global firm. I think ideally I would like to be working in London out of my MBA.
Obviously LBS stands out because of its location and its reputation especially in UK finance. Though, arguably Booth has a stronger program/professors and is a given for US reputation. LBS is a more direct route to working in London straight out of school, however I feel as though Booth would offer a better network longer term if I did want to end up back in North America. As well, in reading various discussions, some would argue that Booth alumni have a stronger presence even in London.
The two programs are quite different. I’m attracted to the very international aspects of LBS and think that the diverse student body is a big plus for understanding global business. Yet what really attracts me to Chicago is the hardcore finance courses that you really can’t find anywhere else.
There’s obviously a lot more that distinguishes each school in my mind. But what do you think? Each day that I wake up, I’ve come to a different conclusion.
