But looks like I may have to re-organize my post-grad goals if this is the case... what other industries or types of companies in the US (specifically NYC or Cal) are open to sponsoring internationals for marketing functions/roles? Particularly for career switchers such as myself.


I'm not an international, so I don't really know. I would advise you to reach out to current international students at these schools to ask these questions. They'll give you a much better answer than I could.

Unfortunately, I suggest you to really re-consider your post-MBA goal. I've been working in CPG & Luxury Goods companies in NYC, so I do know the industry and the region, and they rarely sponsor visa to marketing personnel. Especially for the companies in NYC, there are just too many marketing people with a great portfolio. So even with top MBA (probably exception may be Kellogg), it will be a really tough to break through unless you can demonstrate a great skill in not only business management, but also out-of-box way of thinking. Not sure about tech companies in Cali, though.
