All,
I have had the good fortune of getting accepted into two great B-schools, and the misfortune of being denied from a few others as well. I currently work in venture capital for a small firm and am looking to do one of the following after school Technology in either Product or Corporate Development, Venture Capital, MM Private Equity, Entrepreneurship, or a Hedge Fund. Yes it's a broad range, but I feel like I get meaning from having a significant impact and that can manifest itself in a lot of ways.
I've lived in Boston for a number of years, but am originally from NYC. My thoughts on each of the schools are below:
MIT Sloan:
Tech / entrepreneurial focus
Overall I have been more consistently impressed with prospective Sloan students than CBS students
Marginally better ranking, although in the same tier
Better facilities
Culturally more humble / collaborative
Columbia
NYC Location
Buyside Relationship / Opportunities
Larger Class Size
Perceived as more social
Living closer to my family
