Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some feedback to help me make a decision regarding grad school. I've been accepted to the Master's of Healthcare Administration program at Columbia University in New York and I've also been accepted to a dual degree MBA and Master's Public Administration, Health Policy/management program at NYU Stern and Wagner. My thoughts for post-graduation goals are healthcare consulting, product management for medical devices/technology, and maybe down the line VC in healthcare technology. I have about 1.5 years of working as a registered nurse in a teaching hospital.
My concerns are:
1.) My non-traditional background and short work experience will make it tough for recruiters to take me seriously in an MBA setting. Most peers I've met at admitted students events so far have at least a few years of experience.
However,
2.) An MHA wouldn't make me as competitive compared to MBA students in breaking into healthcare consulting/product management down the line.
3.) I'm not 100% set on being in healthcare forever so I was leaning towards the MBA. Again, if I were to switch industries, would recruiters take me seriously given my background and work experience?
Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you
