I have to choose between MBS and CEIBS business school. My background is IT (8 years) in India. Please don't ask short term goal, long term goal, location i prefer etc...doesn't matter to me as long as its a hot shot location and a hot shot job - plain and simple. Do not have any other options and can not postpone MBA plans. A short write up is below. Kindly take some time out to read. What I want from you is - Please choose one school that you would pick and explain your choice. Thanks.
For me CEIBS is a winner, but MBS opens gate for UK without language hassle and is 14 lacs cheaper(due to scholarship from MBS). Hence the confusion.
Manchester pro's:
1> 18 months program and not 1 year. Can stay till 2 years are over. Space for internship and job search. Same for CEIBS.
2> 4 major live business projects = 600 hours of projects. more live projects and Less classrooms == suits me.(slides , classrooms, definitions, facts are boring)
3> 40% scholarship at MBS. Total fee only 24 lacs (14 lacs less compared to CEIBS).
4> Language is English, so language not a problem. Will not be sidelined on language basis( CEIBS - Mandarin to get a job in mainland China)
5> Manchester city is mini london with low cost of living and football clubs like manchester united and manchester city
6> Spouse can work in UK without work permit for her stay in the UK( 2 years). She can work and support and can also make a career in UK.
7> Pre MBA 48% class from Asia and post MBA 30% of class end up in Asia post MBA. So 18% of class make to UK/Europe.
8> Post MBA - 40% finance, consulting 30% and technology 9%.
9> UK vs China. UK wins. Pound vs RMB. Pound wins.
10> Poets and Quants Ranks MBS 14 and CEIBS 18 in international MBA rankings.
11> Forbes ROI Ranking 2011: 2nd in World for ROI 5 years after graduation (for non-US programmes of more than one year)
Manchester cons:
1> 3 year average rank 34 with this year rank a very low 43 in FT.
2> Will be sidelined on work sponshorship/VISA basis as non EU candidate.
3> Europe in recession. Less good jobs. Have to compete with London, Cambridge, Oxford business schools apart from Insead, IESE in Europe.
4> Career report not detailed.
CEIBS pro:
1> Beats MBS in all parameters except international mobility as per FT rankings.
2> Top 20 B school in the world from the last 3 years as per FT.
3> Better career report than MBS.
CEIBS cons:
1> See career in mainland china or hong kong at best even after cracking placements.
2> No Scholarship. 50% of people come back to India. 40 lacs loan seems a very big amount.
RANKINGS :
1> FT : CEIBS -19, MBS - 43. Winner CEIBS
2> FORBES: CEIBS - 17, MBS - 13, Winner MBS
3> Ranking of Rankings(P&Q): (BW/FT/Fornes/ET): CEIBS -18, MBS -14, MBS Winner.
