Hi,
I would love to have a ask me anything... Im pretty honest and happy to tell it how it is about INSEAD.

Life at INSEAD ?

Life at INSEAD was great. Great social experience. My classmates were truly incredible, fun, accomplished, interesting and most importantly down to earth people. It was great to learn just as much outside of the classroom as in it. Every time you met someone new, they had an amazing life story that led them to INSEAD. The multicultural aspect cannot be stressed enough. Its not just marketing BS. I feel that there is not a single major city on the planet that I can go to and not have a friend to call for dinner or drinks.

Why INSEAD ?

I really only looked at LBS and INSEAD. I went to visit both and thoroughly enjoyed my time at both, however, the dual campus really swayed me. I had never lived in Asia and the opportunity to do so was the final deciding factor. I only applied to INSEAD and thankfully got in.


I dont want to go into too many specifics but I got a few job offers before graduation. I managed to significantly increase my salary and changed geographies. i think in closing that INSEAD is a great place for someone who wants to REALLY experience a multicultural environment. You will learn a ton from your classmates and professors AND have an unbelievable time while doing so. The party scene is great, the travel is constant. but at the same time you have humble classmates that are incredibly bright and down to earth and happy to help and share. My ONE WARNING would be for applicants who are dead set on a career in finance. It is difficult to do so. If you are dead set on it. Go for the january promotion so that you may do an internship, even then I would say there are better options for someone wanting to break into banking.

I can make out from your statements that the experience must have been amazing. I'll like to know the traits INSEAD look-out for in its preferred candidates? While we all have read about key factors in the admission, I will like to learn from your experience. Finally, How significant is GMAT score?

Thank you for doing this! I really like what INSEAD has to offer. Can you talk a little bit about job prospects for non EU citizens post graduation? How easy/hard is it to get sponsored for a work visa in the EU after graduating from INSEAD?

I am obviously not from admissions but I will say that there were some trends in the people that attended INSEAD with me. I think the international outlook is important. Almost every single one of my classmates had worked or lived outside of their native country in some way. Beyond that the usual stuff you have read is important. Finally, I think the essays really matter, I would even say more than the GMAT. Weaving a story that reflects who you are, where you want to go and why INSEAD is the right place to get you there. I think thats what got me in...Finally, I have been told on numerous occasions by alumni and while I was at school that the interview is incredibly important. The ability to be yourself and let your personality shine through. I know it sounds cheesy, but considering you are going to spend so much time working with others, its important that you can have a conversation with someone and get along for 30 mins.

But as I said Im not from admissions so these are purely my thoughts.

I think thats a great question. Its a mixed bag unfortunately. I have a small sample size of my classmates to go off of and economic environments are always changing so take this with a grain of salt. The consulting companies seemed to take both EU and non EU citizens without any visa issues being mentioned. There were also alot of companies however, that specifically only took applications from EU citizens because they did not want to sponsor visas. That being said, I do not specifically remember the visa issue really holding anyone back from getting a job as I know a decent number of non-EU folks that got jobs in Europe post graduation with no issues. Almost every major recruiter on campus had no issues with it. I know thats not really an answer, Im sorry lol.

Hey - Thanks for the detailed post. I had a few more questions for you if you have the time to answer. I'm trying to decide between LBS and INSEAD. I personally prefer INSEAD but have a few concerns in terms of professional growth. I come from a digital analytics background and want to go into brand management/ marketing strategy:

- More CPG firms and marketing roles recruit at INSEAD (11% vs 3% at LBS); however, I would want to work in London post MBA since that's where most of the major CPG global marketing headquarters are. Everyone I talk to seems to suggest that there are no networking opportunities at INSEAD and if I want to work in London, even though marketing roles don't usually recruit there I would have a better chance getting a job through networking - any thoughts?
- How active and helpful is the career services?
- LBS has an internship built-in. I'm going into MBA school fairly young (24 right now) and I'm concerned maybe not having an internship at INSEAD might hurt my chances at recruiting but not sure if that's really a factor
- How intense is the workload? Do you feel like you are actually learning and absorbing new information or is it more of a we just need to pass? Are grades curved? How important are grades to the recruiting process
