Hi everyone,
My background is 6 years at a major oil company with Liberal Arts undergrad going to be a sort of career switcher aiming towards marketing/brand management at a CPG post MBA. During that wait time between submitting applications for R1 and decision time I continued to talk with schools specifically European schools and got a lot of interest from UCD Dublin, the MBA admissions manager has followed up with a lot sent me links to things I am interested outside of education and work that I could do in Ireland. I had a meeting with the MBA admissions manager and an alum to talk about the school. If the school was in the US I probably would not have had a second thought about it as its rankings aren't great, and has very little if any reputation in the US. I have no experience in Europe and this might be my last opportunity to get that. My grandmother is from Ireland so that gives Dublin a sort of draw but I am not sure if it is worth giving up what I could get from a big name school in the US.
To sum it up:
Johnson: Highly ranked, great alumni network, marketing specialty, name recognition but no scholarship
Smurfit: Triple Accredited, top 100 in the world although much lower ranked than Johnson, offering a potential full scholarship
I have the ability to get Irish citizenship through my grandmother so visa requirements for living/working in Ireland are not an issue.
Let me know your thoughts.
