Hey all-- I have a question about how you view fitting in with a school you like vs going to a school that is 'good for you?' (e.g. could be better ranked, or closer to home, etc.)
My specific question (hypothetical, no decisions yet) is Haas vs Sloan.
I want to go into social impact work (either consulting or a new social enterprise) and both schools have a reputation for this. But I'm from the east coast and plan to eventually work on the east coast, and I have a non-traditional background (nonprofit).
I really like Haas; seems like an awesome place i'd enjoy, but I've had people tell me to definitely accept Sloan if I get in for 2 reasons: 1) better ranked which matters more for me because I'm a nontraditional business guy breaking into business and 2) it's on the east coast and has regional advantages.
How reliable is that info?
When do you think it's worth trading off on a school you want to go to in order to attend a better ranked program or program closer to home?
