Hey
jujueyeballs ,
Welcome to GMATClub and congratulations for the great admits you hold.
I would go with Emory here for the following reasons:1. Since you haven't decided between Finance and consulting, at Emory you will get great consulting opportunities to explore. Almost 40% of the class goes to Consulting at Emory. Kelley is famous for Marketing opportunities and not comparable for Consulting. I am not sure of Mendoza though.
2. Atlanta is a hub of many big Fortune 500 companies. Having said that, you will get more opportunities to explore various fields and hence get the taste of different streams before actually deciding one.
3. You need to consider that Kelley has an additional investment in terms of time and money for networking opportunities as you need to travel to different cities to network while the same is not true for Emory.
4. Emory has made a record of 100% internships for the past 3-4 years and their CMC and professors are really doing alot to make sure people are getting internships and finally full time jobs.
5. Emory class is very diverse despite the fact that they are very small. This has its own advantages. You can learn about so many cultures at the same time. I couldn't see such diversity at Kelley.
Also, I was in a similar situation a couple of months ago and I talked to my consultant on the same. I was comparing Emory vs Kelley vs UNC. This is what she mentioned:
I mean, Emory (the overall university) has a strong brand reputation as one of the best universities in the South East, so in terms of brand reputation amongst Americans, Emory has the best brand reputation out of any school on your list (including UNC). I was actually shocked to see that UNC’s ranking for MBA is higher than Emory, since Emory is regarded in general as being a better school? So that’s really shocking to me and I’d have to dig in and see why that is?
So, it seems to me that Emory appears to have a super high post-graduation employment rate and if you’re interested in trying consulting, they send a higher percentage of people to that field?
Also, in terms of location, Atlanta is a more cosmopolitan city. In fact, they may have just elected an African-American mayor. Personally, I like cities more than "college towns".
Out of all the schools on your current list (interviews), I always assumed Emory was your first choice amongst them, ha ha
Note that my perspective is based on what Americans think about an overall school's reputation, its placement statistics, and its location !Let me know if you have any further questions.
