I am a working professional with 12 years of work experience in the Aviation Industry. Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Recently got admitted into the McCombs (UT) Houston PMBA program as well as Jones (Rice) PMBA program. Both part-time programs are highly ranked.
* While UT is a General MBA, Rice allows you to choose electives in the 2nd year. Not that I have anything I want to major in.
* UT ranks higher although Rice is not far behind. Also, the McCombs brand name seems to be much stronger than Jones.
* I am looking to be a career switcher. My main goal is to gain skills and knowledge enough to leverage my current experience and change jobs.
* I prefer staying in Houston but will obviously not turn down a good opportunity outside of Houston if one arises.
* My heart is leaning towards UT but I have been told that Rice has a stronger network in Houston and that having a main campus (versus UT satellite location) is a BIG positive.
* I do not have a target industry but I am looking into alternate energy / renewable resources.
* I am currently into product management. I do not have a target discipline but I do have a liking for finance and/or supply-chain.
* Entrepreneurship: I've always wanted to run my own business (have a couple of ideas) but never had the guts to take the plunge. Always played it safe by working a regular 9-to-6 job.
Help ?
A confused lad.
