Hi all,
In R1, I was lucky to be admitted to a few M7 schools (non HSW) with fellowships from 0 - $40K
I also managed to get a full ride ($148K) with Ross.
I am intending to use my available offers to ask for a more generous fellowship among the M7 schools ( I know this is possible and happened prior years). I'm grateful for Ross but my mind is set on M7.
I have emailed a few schools and the standard reply is that they will look into it once more funds are available (I assume is when other students reject their fellowship)
Question:
1. If the school only knows students' intention by deposit date, does it mean theoretically I have to pay deposit first, then wait for the scholarship revision? This is rather counter-intuitive (or chicken and egg) as I would want to know the offer before I make my decision, but then the school wont give me more money until they hear from the rest? Was this what happened to you? (addressing this to seniors who went through the process)
2. If the scenario in 1) is indeed the common practice, am I right to say that even after deposit is paid, the school is still motivated to "lure" you? Or do they switch gear and say " ah-ha, you paid us deposit, so you need us hence we wont budge"?
3. Has anyone received their scholarship offer revised before deposit date? Has anyone received their scholarship offer revised after deposit date?
I applied in R1 and now realize this might be a disadvantage as usually only in April would the school know how much money is left. I knew someone applied last year in R3 and asked for more money and got it right away.
Hope to hear from you experience!
