Hi everyone!
In 2020, I had applied to a few colleges in Canada for the MBA, and sitting today, I have an offer from John Molson School of Business (Concordia University) as well as a place on the waitlist from Schulich School of Business (York University). I have a strong feeling that the waitlist can convert to an offer as there have been significant improvements to my professional experience over the past few months since the application and hence I am trying to come to a decision now itself.
While after my MBA, I want to pursue Marketing, I am still keeping my options open, and also looking at Consulting.
I have been quite confused about the decision, while a no-brainer would be Schulich, JMSB also makes sense when it comes to a few pointers.
1. Placements for Marketing and Consulting - Can someone help me compare them both? Is the difference in companies and salaries that much?
2. Cost of the MBA/ROI - This is where JMSB really hits the ball out of the park - less than half the tuition fee of Schulich and also lower cost of living in the city of Montreal
Being a foreign national, the cost of an MBA at Schulich for me is quite a lot. Compared to Schulich, the JMSB deal seems pretty solid. But is it worth it? I know Schulich is pretty far ahead in the rankings but does that impact your profile to that much of an extent when applying for jobs/switching jobs?
Any other pointers would really be appreciated. Thank you!

Congratulations on getting your admit.
I myself chose JMSB in the end for its ROI and it was a good decision for me. However there are a few things you need to keep in mind when planning to study in Canada -
1) There are no such things called placements here. Everything is based on your ability to network and make contacts. You can get a 4+ cgpa and still end up without a job (people do end up getting jobs so don't worry about this too much).
2) If you want to get into consulting here, you need prior experience in consulting or analytics. I don't want to discourage you but that's the employer's expectation (BIG4, MBB, ZS etc). 90% of the folks I met go into the same industry they used to work in India.
3) Salary is based on your prior experience, value proposition and negotiation skills and not whether you are from Schulich or JMSB. The higher avg salary reported for Schulich is due to location and more high paying jobs in Ontario. Salaries are higher in Ontario than Quebec, but higher living cost in ON as compared to QC.
4) FRENCH is necessary if you decide to stay in Quebec after you MBA. No getting around that, you will find jobs but they won't be customer facing and you won't be able to socialize at work.
In the end, both are good options. Schulich just edges JMSB for its reputation and location.

I'm also contemplating between JMSB and Schulich. Overall, JMSB offers better ROI for me. My only concern is the chance of getting a job in Toronto after graduation because I cannot speak French, hence cannot stay in Montral post-grad. Does having a MBA from JMSB impact my employment chances in other cities?
