Hi guys!! I have been admitted to both ESSEC (Cergy) and LSE (London), but I really do not know what choice to make. I speak English very well, but my French skills are low. However, there is no doubt that I would be studying French if ultimately choosing ESSEC. I don't even know whether to choose London over Paris... I am so confused! Which university would you chose for Finance and why? What do you think in terms of brand of the school for Finance? I think that LSE may be better in terms of brand, but I do not understand why I cannot find it in any ranking for MSc Finance (for instance, it is never mentioned in the one by the Financial Times).
Thank you

Well, LSE definitely holds a better world university ranking.
Both ESSEC and LSE are great brand name for your career. you won't go wrong with either.
It's all upon where you want to work post-graduation.
London is one of the best financial hubs in the world, but it's definitely costlier and more competitive in terms of the job market than Paris.
With less average time for self, and more time for a career. it's all upon whether you are seeking a work-life balance or want to fully submerge in your career.
I can't say about your french skills here, as consultancy niche seekers require better skills in french. But can't say you won't miss mingling with locals.
French people do love their language, so the whole getting in touch with locals, making friends and partying around vibe will be dull in case you don't find your particular group of people.
Other than that, Don't chase after rankings. You gotta find your way around both the cities. none of them is gonna serve you on a silver platter. Yes, FT rankings work on employment and career stats. but not having LSE in the list won't degrade LSE worth.
No one can tell you what school you should choose, so the best bet is to connect with (or go through the profiles of) LSE and ESSEC Students on Linkedin (if you still have time)
Find what they have done after graduating from an MSc finance major and where they stand now. (make sure to check your own country people before indulging in rest countrymen; experience tends to differ internationally)
talk to them about their post-grad career experience there.
But at the end of the day, it's all upon you, where you see yourself after graduating or which city offers more advantages to you in terms of your to-go career niche.
