I'm an international student. Post MBA goal in HR or General Management but quiet flexible.
MSU - I have to pay $20k tuition and approx $15k in living expenses (70k approx for 2 years)
Georgia Terry - Got a full tuition waiver, PLUS about $40k extra in additional scholarships and stipends.
I need some advise on how to approach my choice decision. MSU has a good HR program but I'm also aware that not many HR jobs exists and not many of those that exist sponsor international students. What would you advise especially in terms of other HR related careers that the MBA could open doors for? Or which companies have hired HR internship or HRLDP full time jobs in the past.

Congratulations on your admits. Fantastic job!
It is a tricky business going into HR as an international person. There are a few reasons. First, sponsoring requires a company to prove to the department of homeland security that none of the Americans can do your job. There are ways around it but basically it’s the first hurdle. Second, it’s gonna be really hard to make a case that your job requires stem certification. Not impossible, but pretty hard to show how you will be using those skills for an HR job. That will make you miss out on an extra two years of OPT. Third, while a lot of the companies are hurting and neither much help as they can hiring people , not a lot of them are looking for MBA level of talent. What I mean is that many of them would settle for someone without a business school degree.
In light of this situation and uncertainty and the fact that they’re probably about 10 jobs that you could apply for (though I have not done research), I will probably take the substantial scholarship and financial assistance that you have received and also probably consider having a Plan B since HR is a pretty ambitious field for an international person.
PS. I believe Terry is not currently stem certified. I believe they have been talking about it for a while and expected to clear sometime in the first half of 2022. I’m hoping they will get it but there is no guarantee until it’s official. At the same time, many of us including myself have graduated with just one year OPT. 🤷♂️
