As has been the case nearly every time I've had an MBA related query, I turn once again to the GMATClub community.
A little about my background : I'm from India and I've got 6 years of work experience in the Information Technology space. For the last three and a half years I've taken on the roles of a software developer, team lead, tech consultant, and product manager. My plan A is to get into consulting (operations or supply chain), and my plan B is to pursue product management.
-Vanderbilt has been kind enough to give me a $100,000 scholarship; $50,000 for each year of the program. The total tuition cost is about $128,000.
-Foster has given me in-state tuition rates and a scholarship of $10,000 for each year of the program. That effectively amounts to a $55,000 scholarship. In-state tuition is about $74,000 for 2 years, while non-resident tuition is about $108,000.
All considered, both programs will end up costing more or less the same.
From my conversations with relevant folk thus far, I've learnt that Vandy is better for consulting, and Foster is certainly better for Product Management, but it seems like its consulting program is yet to mature. I like the "feel" of both places, and I'm a bit stumped about which one to pick.
I've got some points of contention at the moment :
1)Which school would provide a better blend of opportunities in order to explore consulting AND product management?
2)Which location would provide greater career and networking opportunities for my interests?
3)Which school offers the better overall student experience?
4)Which is the better city to live in post-graduation, Nashville, or Seattle?
I'd be glad to look into any other factors I should take into consideration. I'd love to hear your opinions on what steps I should take and why. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
