Dear community
I have trouble deciding which school to go to. Rotman has offered me a scholarship amount of 20K CAD, and Foster offered me an in-state tuition rate plus 10K USD. I have reached to Foster to see if they can offer me more money, but they haven't given me an answer yet.
Goal: Pivot to marketing as a PM o Brand Manager. I know Foster is a well-known school for this, however, I am a little nervous about my immigration status after the MBA. As an international student, I honestly don't know how easy is for us to obtain a job after the OPT has ended. I would love to work abroad at least as I have paid all my loan from BS.
Rotman
Pros:
-Best BS in Canada
-Diverse cohort and very welcoming people overall
-PR after you complete the MBA + citizenship after working for 2 years
-Toronto's lifestyle is unmatched from my point of view
Cons:
-High debt, low ROI
-MBA ranking is lower than that of Foster
-Not a well-recognized BS for marketing or product management
Foster
Pros:
-Good location to pursue a tech career as a PM
-Co-signer available, so interest won't eat me alive
-The school claims its career centre management is very good, and so far it seems so.
Cons:
-Immigration status
-The cohort is mostly conformed of American students, so the figure in the school's salary report cannot be used to represent the international part of it
-Limited to do a career on the west coast. Not completely a con but I would love to move to EC at some point since part of my family lives there.
I gladly appreciate all your insights. I am kind of desperate right now!

I think this is a conflicting post. I would say an illogical as well. For example, one of the disadvantages of foster is that we would not be able to easily move to the East Coast of the United States, but how are you planning to do that going to Rotman? You are not even in the same country. 🤷♂️
Your comment about the Foster cohort consisting of primarily American students is generally misinformed.
It seems wherever you get your information, it’s not well researched. You don’t need to get a job after OPT. You can continue in the same position in the same job. You get a three-year work permit during which you can apply up to 6 times for H1B. If you would have the same chances of getting it as graduates from Harvard, Yale and MIT. I guess based on that logic, they should all choose Rotman? 😇
Anyway, here are a few gaps you can see that you should research if you want to have more information making this decision

You get a three-year work permit during which you can apply up to 6 times for H1B. If you would have the same chances of getting it as graduates from Harvard, Yale and MIT. I guess based on that logic, they should all choose Rotman? 😇

Hi! Thanks for your insights. I think I wasn't clear with the moving option.
I wrote that being on the west coast was a disadvantage primarily because I am pretty close to my family, so I wasn't sure whether the brand of Foster is as good as other Bs schools from that part of the country (Harvard, Yale, IMT). If I chose Rotman, I would not need to move to the United States since I would be a 2-hour plane away from my family. Sorry I wasn't clear before.
For the OPT part, you are totally right. Foster does give me a STEM designation work permit and the apply to the H1B visa. The thing is that I have talked to some folks who have told me that some tech companies are no longer giving as many H1B visa sponsorships as before.
Anyway, if you had to choose from these two schools and not consider the illogical points from my post, what would you do?
