Hi! Welcome to GMAT Club. I’ve spent half a year in Kowloon near Clearwater Bay and loved my time in Hong Kong.
You are correct in the sense that Kellogg is a stronger program than Yale. Kellogg is often ranked number one by different rankings and has a very strong marketing behind the brand. And I am actually very surprised. There is more infrastructure and bouldering gyms around Yale since it’s not exactly in the most bustling area. New Haven has been sketchy on and off in the last 30 or so years… definitely not a reason to stay out of jail, but it’s supposedly surprising me with a bouldering gym 😇
Even though Kellogg has a much better rank in program, and arguably a lot of other better things, such as professors, caliber of students, consulting recruiting, will not be influenced by the brand. Better placement from Kellogg into consulting is more indicative about the caliber of students and the consulting focus they have through their clubs. Yale is indeed very consulting focused, but the lower numbers are not an indication, reflective of the school, but rather of the students themselves, so for the sake of argument, your placement chances would be equal despite your choice
On the pure, utilitarian level, the Kellogg offer is better. It’s not cheaper, but it is better from the standpoint of on campus recruiting, and access to variety of employers. They do really well to tailor their curriculum towards many of the tech companies, and that has been well excepted within the tech sector.
They also have an EMBA partnership with HKUST which means you would likely have a pretty good sized cohort of executive MBA graduates from that program in the city… that could be worth something if you’re looking to get back there.
