Hi all,
I have been admitted to Georgetown and Vanderbilt. No scholarship at either. I will be using my veteran’s benefits to pay for school. Vanderbilt does have a scholars program for veterans that I will be applying to, but no guarantee on the funding associated with the program.
I’m looking to recruit for consulting, but I’m not MBB or bust. Location preference, I would prefer ending up in the south/southwest US, but I will go anywhere for the best opportunity.
I’m leaning towards Vanderbilt due to the slight preference in post-mba location. Additionally, I think I would like Nashville more than DC.
I know Georgetown is higher ranked, but it seems negligible. Does it make sense choosing Vanderbilt over Georgetown if I want consulting?

Congratulations on your admits. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. My cousin was in the Army after WP.
I feel it is a wash between the 2 programs. It will probably end up being a little more expensive to be in Georgetown with the cost of living. And if you are preferring to be in the south, Vanderbilt is a great name.
Both are a part of the pre mba internship program with BCG at least. I can’t look up McKinsey yet. BCG upstart I think it is called. I highly recommend applying for it since you can immediately score an internship and a job.
Have you talked to the veteran club folks at both programs? Did either one impress you more than the other.
PS. I am traveling and on my phone, I assume you have looked up employment reports and saw no big difference.

I will definitely take advantage of the pre mba internships. Thank you for the suggestion.
I have reached out to both veteran’s clubs and they are great. The employment reports are similar with the major difference being post mba location.
It seems the decision is really down to fit and DC vs Nashville. I just wasn’t sure if there was anything I was overlooking. Again, I appreciate the advice!
