Congrats on your admits!
The two programs are often ranked similarly and often are considered peers schools I guess though the difference among programs outside of the top 20 becomes less and less palpable.
At both programs, you are not going to blow anybody’s mind off putting their names on your résumé. Georgetown may have a better sound and rain just because it has it a large net work around DC area with the undergrad and law school. So if you were planning to settle there in the long run, it’s a great choice. Keep in mind, as you probably already know, it has some horrible traffic and not affordable at all…. I have spent some time in Virginia and while cool for college age, living in the district, it is tough with a family.
At the same time, it’s not like Atlanta is a public transport heaven without traffic. 😂
I have heard mixed results about LDP programs from a couple folks in tech. This may be only tech related but in places like Amazon, this often means being in charge of a warehouse operations or some thing as boring as that. My guess is a difference from company to company but over the last few years it seems like companies have use this program to get cheap management labor for undesired positions. Just be careful.
I can tell you in general, career services will suck. Especially in smaller programs like these two, they will have in adequate resources and it will be really hard to get meaningful progress done fast. Your best bet is depending on yourself. There are no résumé writing classes or recruiting tips classes or anything like that in business school. You get Some tips and some ideas in the presentation but everything else, you learn through experience and mistakes and through elbow grease. I would check the employment reports and see how many people have gone into the industries and the marketing roles that you were considering. My guess is it will be single digits . So I would say you would end up networking and recruiting on your own and I would consider where you would be more successful and where you would prefer to focus and settle in. I think Georgetown would have a stronger network and stronger connection around the DC area And I’m sure the pay would be higher but so is the cost of living. December extent, when I am upset and annoyed with the career services I would rather have 50 grand to make feel better 😇
PS. Have you approached Georgetown about matching the scholarship?
