Living cost around GWU is insane! Personally I was also very apprehensive of going to GWU but I have been pleasantly surprised with the name recognition it carries with the employers! The career center itself is not something outstanding when it comes to looking for a job and there is limited help when reaching out to the employers or making connections. But on your you can reach out to the alumni, many of whom are well placed and willing to help! In terms of part-time jobs there are plenty on GW campus but it will take time to find one. From what I gather UMD also has plenty of on-campus part-time jobs.

and the afternoon/evening classes just give you the whole day at your disposal. I mean the schedule is crazy amazing at GW.

That's good to hear, thanks! Between the two, which do you think is better for international students seeking full-time jobs after graduation? I think as a public university, UMD tends to have more local students than GWU due to lower tuition fees, and its huge, bigger size than GWU means more competition right? Also, most companies around DMV tend to tie with federal govt, and even if they don't, they still need to prioritize US residents over international applicants, so do you also think that going to GWU gives better chance in landing a full-time job after graduation?

In the end it is really going to boil down to networking and reaching out. It's not possible to say that one is better than the other. Yes, most companies in DMV work federal contracts and are specifically restricted from hiring non-citizens. And that is a struggle, however GW does carry name in other states/areas besides DMV so that I think is a advantage. But again in the end it is all about networking and making connections. Any country will prioritize its own citizens and that is usually enshrined in employment law/policy. Employers have to specifically demonstrate that they were not able to hire any US citizen for a specific position before moving on. However, at the moment the demand for filling open positions remains strong and as long as you persist you will be able to land a role of your choice.

Well, that's the reason why it's better to get into a program with better job prospects for international students, isn't it? If you go to a school with many local students, you are going to compete with them during various career events using the same school brand. GWU has more international students no doubt as it's private and tuition fee is the same for both local and international students. Actually, many people said last year job market was brutal. Are you an international student/ recent student in GWU finance program? If you don't mind, can you share employment data for its MS finance program?

That is a good point but GW does not have any campus placement so there is nothing to compete for! I do not have the recent employment data from MS programs at GW but just from observation most people were able to land roles albeit after a bit of a struggle!
