Hey
wisdompeak,
First of all, Huge Congratulations!! This is an amazing feat!
Let's see 2 scenarios
1. You are risk-taking, you care a lot about prestige(not in any way bragging, but it's a shiny little golden badge), and you are willing to take a more handsome loan that will be amortized in a not-so-significant way throughout your career. You might like Columbia and CBS might be your right fit.
2. You care about the community and the vibe you get/feel from it, you want to go more conservative and not risk so much, and think the scholarship would help, Ross might be your place.
As far as your concern about the employment reports and the slight ups and downs in consulting numbers, I wouldn't pay too much attention to those, because the times are tough, the economy is tough, so there might be some erratic behaviors.
All in all, it's a very subjective answer, so I would suggest listening to your heart but that's how I would think about it -
1. CBS is M7 a very strong program, in the middle of the Big Apple, with excellent networking opportunities, which opens doors to many other industries.
2. If the financial commitment is not too big, I would probably spend more and get to a more prestigious school, not because of the prestige, but because of the people you surround yourself with.
3. Most of all, I would pay so much attention to how a school or community makes me feel, if I feel I wouldn't belong somewhere however good that may be it's not good for me.
So please think about those parameters as you think about how to decide.
