Hi. Congrats on your admits. I have replied to your other post.

I see you are looking to pivot towards Tech. Why is Foster an issue with their tech recruiting? What am I missing? :)

P.S. Consulting recruiting is a reflection of the consulting club and individual. thats not school reputation. One issue with Scheller is that it is 45 students per year and a very small class so your consulting club will be tiny and support equally limited. However, small programs tend to have better alum connections as it is a smaller group but at Scheller recruiting will be fully on your own.

Anyway, let me know if you are recruiting into consulting, such as MBB, or Deloitte, or Tech.

Hi everyone,
I’m excited to have received offers from McCombs ($50k), Emory Goizueta ($100k), and Georgia Tech ($100k). After scholarships, the tuition costs are:
McCombs: $70k, Emory: $50k, Georgia Tech: $0 (Full-ride)
I have three years of consulting experience in Asia and aim to pivot into tech. Given the current job market, I’m open to starting in consulting and transitioning into tech later. I’d appreciate your insights on which school might be the best fit:
McCombs: Strong in both tech and consulting, especially in Texas, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about support for international students and alumni connection.
Emory Goizueta: Excellent consulting pipeline, but limited tech opportunities.
Georgia Tech: Full-ride means no financial pressure, but consulting placement isn’t as strong as Goizueta.
Foster (if admitted): I love Seattle and found the community very supportive, but the job market heavily leans toward tech, which may be challenging.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your reply! My primary goal is to break into the tech industry. However, given the current challenges in tech job placements, it’s tough to get in without prior experience (I previously worked at Accenture Strategy for three years). That’s why I’m looking for a school with strong resources in both tech and consulting. For consulting, I’m open to opportunities at both MBB and tier-2 firms.

Regarding Foster, I really like the city of Seattle. However, I’ve heard that consulting resources there are somewhat limited. That said, I noticed in the employment report that 33% of students go into consulting, which I find a bit surprising.

I’d really appreciate your insights on this!

Some pros and cons I can see for your schools:

Georgia Tech: A full ride minimizes financial pressure, which can let you take risks and focus on pivoting into tech. However, if consulting is your launchpad, you’ll want to ensure you’re comfortable with its relatively weaker consulting placement.

Goizueta: Excellent for consulting placements, which could benefit you early on. But the limited tech exposure might mean fewer opportunities when you eventually shift into tech.

McCombs: Offers a balance between tech and consulting opportunities. However, you noted some mixed feedback on international support and alumni connections—areas that can be critical for a successful pivot.

Foster: I think you'll most likely get through. The supportive community and location in Seattle could be a great fit, particularly for tech. But consider that its strong tech focus might mean fewer consulting opportunities if that’s your starting point.

My suggestions:

-Reach out to current students and alumni to ask specific questions about international student support, career services, and how well the program has supported transitions from consulting to tech. You can even use LinkedIn for this. Personal insights usually provide a clearer picture than statistics alone.

-If possible, attend webinars, info sessions, or even campus visits to get a firsthand feel of the culture, support systems, and career placement strengths. This could also help address concerns about international student support at McCombs. Don't just go by hearsay.

- Keep the bigger picture in mind. While a full ride is very attractive, the ultimate return on investment includes post-MBA opportunities, network quality, and your personal growth. Compare not only the financial cost but also the mentorship, experiential learning opportunities, and long-term career impact.

All in all, it's a good conundrum to be in. A lot of people would happily trade places with you.
