To my fellow GMAT Clubber, first off, congrats on securing those two offers. I am happy to offer my two cents, hope some of it can be helpful to you. It might be a long reply though. Also, hat off to you for digging up two decades worth of post

The Zicklin Evening MBA has the lower cost, which is certainly appealing, especially with the potential home purchase in mind. However, with the NYU brand, despite the higher cost (~$175k), it generally comes with a more prestigious brand. This may open doors to more high-profile roles or companies, but you have to consider if that investment will yield a significant return for you personally and professionally. I saw that you said you want to [make some serious decisions about where/how I want to orient the rest of my career.] Since you are in your early 30s, I assume you have tons of WE under your belt, so I’d argue that the experience that you carry will worth more than the brand of your MBA. Furthermore, I think the NYU brand carries more weight should you venture out of the NY area. But if you decide to stay in NYC for sure, then I’d go with the cheaper price tag, as both schools are in NYC. So I guess you need to decide where do you want to work and what do you want to do. And the second thing is the network value of the MBA. I don’t know about Zicklin though, but think about where you see yourself in the next 5-10 years. If you aspire to positions that typically recruit from top-tier schools, the connections and recognition of NYU Stern (not that the other is any less valuable) could be invaluable (but is it that much better than that of Zicklin to justify the cost, I wouldn’t say so) But on the other hand, Baruch could provide the knowledge and networking you need at a fraction of the cost.
Objectively, I’d reach out to students or alumni from both programs to ask about their experiences. They can provide invaluable insight into how the programs shaped their careers and whether they felt the financial investment was justified.
Personally, I was accepted between NYU and some other T10 schools not in NYC. I secured the 50% scholarship from NYU, but was still expensive for me, so I waited to apply again in the future. But that was because I was not in a rush, and I know this is not the case for you.
TLDR: So, if I were in your shoe, and if I know that I will stay in the NYC, I’d go for the Zicklin. If I want to try out companies throughout the states, I’d go with the NYU brand. Since you mentioned you can afford both, so I guess the only question to be asked is this: is the value from the NYU brand and network worth the 100K? Because when it comes to brand, we have different perceptions of it.
Thank you for bearing with my long post!
