Hi all,
I’m in the process of deciding between Toronto (Rotman) and McGill (Desautels) for my MBA and would love to get some insights from those familiar with these programs!
My Background & Post-MBA Goals:
• Background: 5 years in communications and project management
• Long-term Goal: Interested in working in Canada post-MBA, ideally in a corporate role that integrates business strategy, ESG and social impact. A higher position in art is also within the plan.
My Key Considerations:
1. Reputation & Recruiting:
• How do their employer networks compare for consulting, marketing, or sustainability roles?
2. Program Strengths:
• Rotman’s focus on design thinking, analytics, and innovation is appealing, but I’ve heard the program is quite intense.
• McGill’s integrated approach and smaller cohort sound more personalized. Any insights on how these teaching styles translate into real-world skills?
3. Location & Networking:
• Toronto is Canada’s business hub, and McGill has strong global branding. How are they connected internationally, if moving to Europe is within long term aspirations?
4. Experience & Culture:
• Personally, Montreal is my preferred city for its lifestyle. I have foundational competencies in French and wouldn’t avoid building my French to learn more about the Francophone cultures.
However, the PR conditions seem uncertain in both Ontario and Quebec. I understand it may take longer to settle in Quebec.
If anyone has gone through a similar decision or has insights into these programs, I’d really appreciate your thoughts! Thanks in advance.
