Hi everyone,
I’m currently facing a tough decision regarding my master’s degree and would really appreciate some advice. My goal is to break into high finance—ideally investment banking (IB) or consulting at MBB.

I’m currently facing a tough decision regarding my master’s degree and would really appreciate some advice. My goal is to break into high finance—ideally investment banking (IB) or consulting at MBB.
I have offers from the following programs:
- ESCP – Master in Management
- ESSEC – Master in Management
- EDHEC – Master in Management (Finance Track)
- Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) – Master in Finance
- Placement: ESCP and ESSEC have strong networks in Central Europe, where I’d prefer to work.
- Finance Specialization: SSE is the only pure finance program, which could be valuable given that my undergrad degree is in communications. I worry that choosing a general MiM might leave me without enough finance credentials.

Given your goal of breaking into high finance, especially investment banking (IB) or consulting at MBB, I would recommend going with the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) Master in Finance. This program is specialized, so you’ll gain the strong finance foundation that will make you stand out, especially considering your communications background. Finance-specific credentials are highly valued in IB and consulting, and SSE’s strong reputation in the financial sector could give you an edge. Although ESCP and ESSEC have strong networks in Central Europe, SSE’s focused finance program and strong industry connections will be a better fit for your goals.

If you are specifically aiming for investment banking (IB), then I would lean towards choosing the EDHEC Master in Management with the Finance Track. This program offers a strong finance focus, giving you the finance-specific credentials you might lack with your communications background. EDHEC has a great reputation for finance in particular, and their Finance Track could give you an edge when applying for IB roles. If you still have a strong interest in consulting, then ESSEC or ESCP might be better suited for broader exposure and networking. Both are highly respected and have great placement records with MBB.
