Hi everyone,
I’m currently at a crossroads and would really value some fresh perspective.
I’ve been lucky enough to get offers from both IE for their 15-month MIM and ESADE for the MIM + CEMS double degree, and I’m finding it tough to choose between my gut feeling and a more "rational" path.
My heart is really in the Venture Capital and Growth Equity space. I love the idea of scaling businesses, and I’ve always had a pretty creative, "hands-on" entrepreneurial drive. At the same time, I recognize that starting out in Tier-1 Consulting (MBB) could be an incredible launchpad to get the right foundation, even if it’s not my ultimate destination.
Instinctively, I’m drawn to IE. Their innovative DNA and the whole Madrid tech scene really resonate with my personality. It feels like the right place to be if I want to immerse myself in that disruptive, fast-paced mindset.
On the other hand, the ESADE + CEMS combo feels like a powerful "safety net" with massive global prestige. The idea of doing my CEMS term at a top Asian school like Tsinghua or NUS is a huge draw for me, especially since I’m aiming for a global career that touches markets in APAC or LATAM before eventually settling back in Europe.
So, I guess my question is: for someone who’s creative and ambitious but wants to break into highly competitive fields like VC or Growth Equity, which ecosystem actually moves the needle more? Is the immediate entrepreneurial "fit" of IE more valuable than the structured, institutional power and Asian network you get with CEMS?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through either program or works in these sectors. Thanks!
