What is the preferred score for ISB (GRE)?

Hi,
I’m planning to apply for 2026-27 PGP. Would like to gain insights on the preferred cut off for ISB for GRE applicants. 
Considering there’s a fallout from US university candidates, are there chances that Indian B schools will face higher cutoffs?

There is no "cut off" as such; the average GRE score is around 328; so, you should aim for something above that - the higher the better; needless to say, this does not guarantee an interview call; your application will be evaluated holistically.

While ISB does not officially specify a GRE cut-off for applicants, based on our experience, a  score above 325 is generally considered good , and anything in the range of  328 to 330 is ideal  to apply with a competitive edge.

That said, we would like to  reiterate that the GRE score is only one part of the overall application , and ISB follows a  holistic evaluation approach . So, even if your score is slightly below the ideal range, you can still have a good chance of securing a shortlist  if you present your profile impactfully and demonstrate clarity in your goals through the application essays .

To address your second question regarding the potential fallout from US university candidates, we do believe it could result in a  higher number of applicants than usual , which may make the process more competitive. However, the best approach is to  focus on putting your strongest application forward , as that is the part entirely within your control.

ISB doesn’t look at just your GRE score. They really focus on your overall profile.

That said, a 330+ GRE is generally seen as strong and helps you check the box for test scores. But don’t stress if you’re not quite there yet.  The Class of 2026 had scores ranging from 306 to 336 , so there’s definitely hope even with a lower score.

What matters then is how well you do in other areas.  Focus on strong essays, clarity in your goals, impactful work experience, and of course, doing well in the interview . Your undergraduate academics will also help balance out a slightly lower GRE score.

So I’d suggest focusing on your mocks for now. Give the final exam when you’re consistently scoring above 330. That’ll give you the best shot.
